Our client is hiring a Estimator in their Queens, NY and New Jersey branches.

THE WHY: a subsection of the construction industry that’s all about helping people during incredibly hard times/disasters - floods, fires, mold, emergencies, and accidents.
THE WHERE: the offices are based in New York City (all boroughs) and New Jersey (Bergen, Essex, and Hudson Counties). Only candidates within 30 miles of the listed territory (or willing to relocate) will be considered.

THE HOW: As a Claims Estimator, you’ll be instrumental in helping property owners recover after disasters. You’ll work directly with homeowners, insurance adjusters, and project managers to assess property damage, create accurate restoration estimates, and guide clients through the insurance claims process.
Competitive earnings: Base salary + commission, with current estimators earning $60,000–$100,000+ annually (no earning cap). Strong benefits package, including health, dental, vision, 401k matching, company cell, vehicle allowance, and more.
THE MUST HAVES: The Restoration Estimator MUST have experience with construction estimates...preferably Mitigation and Reconstruction estimation and experience with Xactimate and/or Symbility.

YOUR DNA
As a Claims Estimator, you’ll be instrumental in helping property owners recover after disasters. You’ll work directly with homeowners, insurance adjusters, and project managers to assess property damage, create accurate restoration estimates, and guide clients through the insurance claims process. To be a successful Claims Estimator, you'll have the following skills, background, and qualities.
Strong Project Management Skills: This is crucial for tapping into project needs and the scope of small to very large losses. Expertise in project management and scheduling software is key.
Industry Navigation: Building relationships with property owners, insurance companies, and third-party administrators (TPAs).
Collaboration Skills: The ability to effectively lead and cross-collaborate across team members is key. This includes clear communication, delegation, and performance management.
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Estimators interact with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, insurance adjusters, and other professionals. They need to be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Technical Expertise: Understanding of property damage restoration techniques (water, fire, mold), contents cleaning and pack-out procedures, and industry best practices is necessary to assess damage, develop mitigation plans, and ensure quality control.
Understanding of Insurance Claims Processes: A strong grasp of how insurance claims work to effectively collaborate with adjusters, ensuring projects meet insurance requirements and receive proper reimbursement.
Organization and Attention to Detail: Loss projects involve many moving parts. The estimator needs to be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accurate project documentation.
Customer Service Focus: Building trust and maintaining positive relationships with customers is important. Everyone on the team needs to be empathetic, responsive to customer concerns, and ensure a smooth restoration process.
Problem-Solving Skills: Projects can present unexpected challenges. The estimator needs to be a critical thinker, able to assess situations, develop solutions, and adapt plans as needed.
Staying Up-to-Date: The industry is constantly evolving. The successful candidate stays informed about new techniques, regulations (like IICRC standards), and best practices to ensure their team uses the most effective methods.
Required Education and Experience
Experience with Xactimate and/or Symbility required
Experience in restoration, construction, or insurance claims estimating.
Bonus: Industry certifications (e.g., IICRC, Lead, etc.)
Physical Requirement
Must be able to communicate and converse with customers over the phone and face to face
Must be able to stay in a stationary position up to 80% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, fax machine, copy machine, and computer printer.
Must be able to observe and perceive information on a computer and documents
